Dermal Clinicians, Who are we?
Dermal Clinicians are allied health professionals with expertise in skin health. We are evidence based, independent practitioners. You might find us working in private practice, community health settings, medical specialty areas as well as within hospital outpatient clinics.
Education and Scope of Practice
Dermal Clinicians have an AQF 7 Bachelor Degree in Health Science with a focus on skin health and management. The ASDC recognises there are skin health professionals with different educational backgrounds and levels assisting those with skin concerns.
Have you got a skin concern?
The skin is a very important for health and wellbeing. It is our first line of defence against the outside world. Everyone should have the opportunity to feel comfortable in their skin. We can provide education and management strategies if you are experiencing skin problems.
History of Dermal Clinicians
The Australian Society of Dermal Clinicians was founded in 2001 in Melbourne. We now represent skin health professionals all over Australia, in varied clinical settings working to increase awareness of skin health as well as assisting those with skin concerns.
Standards and Codes of Ethical Behaviour
As allied health professionals you can expect that your Dermal Clinician will behave in an ethical and evidence based manner. As ASDC members we are guided by a Code of Ethical Practice and Standards of Practice.
The Profession & Titles
The ASDC endorse titles based on ASDC membership category and recognised formalised qualifications required for entry to those categories. As these are not government protected titles is is important that you ask your Dermal Clinician if they have one of the ASDC recognised qualifications.
